fic: Life Interrupted

Title: Life Interrupted
Author: ocean gazer
Fandom: Legend of the Seeker
Season/Spoilers: post-finale, assume everything is spoiled
Pairing: Kahlan&Cara friendship, Kahlan/Cara relationship, canon Kahlan/Richard
Summary: Against all odds, they've found what they were seeking. But is it too late to save the world?
Category: future fic, dark, angst, hurt/comfort
Rating: adults only
Warnings: references to rape and torture, violence
Archive: Passion and Perfection, AO3; all others, please ask first
Disclaimers: ABC, Disney, Terry Goodkind, Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert, et al own this reality and these characters. I wrote this for my own entertainment/edification and made no money from it.
Author's Notes: When I scribbled down the first line, I was planning to write a lighthearted adventure fic. Apparently that wasn't the story that wanted to be told. Instead of fighting against the flashes of backstory that kept popping into my head, I listened to them. For better or worse, this is the result. Not beta read, so all mistakes are my own. Feedback welcomed and adored, but never required. Thanks for reading.

fic: The Price of Survival 3/3

Title: The Price of Survival
Author: ocean gazer
Fandom: Walker, Texas Ranger
Season: six, using the DVD numbering system
Spoilers: for "Survival"...this story is an alternate ending to that episode
Pairing: Alex/female friendship, Alex/Walker canon relationship
Summary: What if Walker didn't arrive in time to save Alex from the Trammel brothers?
Category: AU, hurt/comfort, angst, major Alex-whump
Rating/Warning: Adults only, for rape, violence, and dark content. The descriptions aren't extremely explicit, but there's some definite intensity to them, so proceed with caution if rape is one of your squicks.
Archive: AO3, Passion and Perfection. Anyone else, please ask first.
Disclaimers: I think we all know I don't own these characters; I'm just borrowing them for a little while. They belong to Norris Brothers Entertainment, the Ruddy Greif Company, Top Kick Productions, CBS Productions, and various others. This story is writing practice and experimentation for me, and I've made no money from it.
Author's Note: So, this was supposed to be just a short piece, an experiment in writing in present tense using third-person restricted POV. The next thing I knew, it had grown like kudzu. I have no idea what happened. I'm also not quite sure why my brain is stuck on such dark themes these days. This story is an alternate ending to the episode "Survival," so if you haven't seen that, it may not make a whole lot of sense. (It may not make a lot of sense even if you have seen it, but that's an entirely separate issue.) It's an Alex-centric story, with an emphasis on two of the minor characters in "Survival." For those familiar with my writing, it's the kind of f/f friendship story I write when I'm not writing actual femslash...lol. Let's see...what else? Not beta read, so all mistakes are my own. Feedback is always appreciated and adored, but never required. Thanks for reading.

Title: The Stuff of Which Nightmares Are Made
Author: ocean gazer
Fandom: The X-Files
Season: post-finale, in an alternate universe where Scully never left with Mulder
Spoilers: none that come to mind
Summary: Of course it was a dark and stormy night. It was Halloween.
Pairing: Dana/Monica
Category: drama, case file, mild horror
Rating/Warning: older teens and up for language and violence
Archive: Passion & Perfection, Pink Rabbit; all others, please ask first
Disclaimers: You all know by now that I don't own them. That honor belongs to Chris Carter, 1013 Productions, FOX, and a whole host of others whose names I don't remember. I just take them out and play with them from time to time. I write for my own entertainment and have made no money off this story.
Author's Notes: So, I really am not sure where this story came from. I'd had the scene of someone alone in a cabin in the middle of a storm set in my head for a while, but never knew what to do with it. And then, like a lightning bolt, it hit me. The end is a little...er...sappy. What can I say? I wanted a happy ending. As always, feedback is more than welcome, but never required. Hope you enjoy.

fic: A New Gotham Halloween

Title: A New Gotham Halloween
Author: ocean gazer
Fandom: Birds of Prey (TV-verse)
Season/Spoilers: post-finale; no specific spoilers
Summary: Ten snapshots of how the Birds spent their Halloween...
Pairing: none
Category: holiday, humorous fluff, ten interconnected drabbles
Rating/Warning: teens and older for language
Archive: Passion & Perfection, Pink Rabbit; all others please ask first
Disclaimers: Hard as it is to believe, I still don't own them. That honor belongs to Tollin/Robbins, DC Comics, Warner Brothers, and a whole host of others whose names I don't recall. I write for my own entertainment and have not made a penny off of this story.
Author's Notes: This is yet another of my attempts to subvert the whole "a picture is worth a thousand words" notion by using a thousand words to paint ten pictures. It's just a light, silly sort of story, but one that amused me. Hopefully it will amuse you as well.

fic: In the End Is the Beginning 3/3

Title: In the End Is the Beginning
Author: ocean gazer
Fandom: Stargate SG-1
Season: starts in season 8, jumps to season 3, ends up in season 4
Spoilers: major spoilers for Shades of Grey, Jolinar's Memories, The Devil You Know, 1969, 2010; minor spoilers for Serpent's Song, Point of View, Fair Game, and The First Commandment
Pairing: Sam/Janet, both established relationship and first-time
Summary: How do you stop the zombie apocalypse? Time travel, of course!
Category: AU, mild horror, drama, angst, hurt/comfort
Rating: 18+, please
Warnings: violence, occasional language, minor gore, after-the-fact descriptions of torture – nothing too graphic, but read carefully if that's a squick
Archive: Passion and Perfection, Pink Rabbit; others, please ask first
Disclaimers: I think we all know I don’t own the characters, the show, or the concept; that honor belongs to Showtime, MGM, Double Secret, Gekko, so on and so forth. They're just nice enough to let us all play in their sandbox. I write for my own entertainment and – occasionally – edification, and make no money from it.
Author's Notes: I'm not even sure where to start with this one. The story is not at all what I intended – it was supposed to be a short and somewhat tongue-in-cheek story for a zombie ficathon. That didn't happen. First, the ficathon was more than a year ago – I might be a little late for it...lol. Second, all these unexpected references to a somewhat dark back story kept popping up. Somehow, I ended up with three acts and a story that was only partly about zombies. The story got shelved for a while, then I started the editing process, added about 7000 words, and ended up with a short novella that still was only partly about zombies. Shrug. In the process of writing this story, I've discovered that time travel gives me a headache, that story research can lead you down interesting paths, and that the CDC has a blog entry about the zombie apocalypse (no, I'm not kidding). I'd like to thank the folks at Stargate Wiki – they've compiled a wealth of useful information and their episode transcripts were particularly helpful. I also want to give a special thanks to Pink Rabbit Productions for some helpful feedback on an early draft of the story, and for coming up with the acronym MHD (and letting me use it). What else? I guess that's about it, other than to say that I hope you enjoy the story. Feedback is, as always, adored, but never required.

fic: Good Things Come

Title: Good Things Come
Author: ocean gazer
Fandom: Legend of the Seeker
Season/Spoilers: post season two, an AU of the end of "Tears," minor spoilers for "Tears"
Pairing: Cara/Kahlan, canon Kahlan/Richard
Rating/Warning: teens and older for one non-graphic "adult situations" scene
Category: AU, angst, first-time; written for the LotS femslash Fic-A-Kiss-A-Thon
Summary: Good things come to those who wait.
Disclaimer: ABC, Disney, Terry Goodkind, Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert, et al own this reality and these characters. I wrote this for my own entertainment and made no money from it.
Author's Note: My muse has been a fickle little creature recently, but seeing the behind-the-scenes video of Tabrett kissing Bridget inspired her. (If you haven't seen it, go to youtube and search for M Sussman. He has three videos posted; two are of this kiss. The link isn't posting correctly.) The first scene in the story is based on the video – minus Tab's double thumbs-up – but as if it's the characters reacting, not the actors. The story is longer than I'd expected, and has more angst than I intended, and I've no idea why the hell it's in present tense. But I rather like the end result, and hope you do as well.
